Area In Detail

Area Update

ARC’s central Alberta area stretches across the centre of Alberta and reaches as far as Smiley in western Saskatchewan. Reserves from the area are over 25 million barrels of oil equivalent with a reserve life of 8.6 years. ARC completed its first commercial Natural Gas from Coal or NGC project at Delburne in 2006. Since that time ARC has been actively developing its NGC assets with the addition of two Gas plants in Delburne. ARC believes the development of NGC in this area will make the area a more meaningful component of ARC’s asset base. Recent activity in central Alberta includes horizontal activity in Garrington, where ARC produces high quality light oil from the Cardium formation.
